The students have been given a refresher lesson about Andy Warhol and the Pop Art movement. They have used the fact that he ate Tomato soup every day for twenty years for lunch, as their inspiration for these ink wash pieces.

The students have completed torn paper heart collages, using glue sticks for adhesive. They have also written a message of love for their intended recipient/s.
This week was spent sorting out the previous self-portrait portfolios into appropriate new grades. Another drawing was completed during the session, along with a discussion as to Art room rules and expectations.
The students painted watercolour flowers. Then they examined blue and white ceramic vases and drew these onto cartridge paper, the appropriate size to hold their flowers. Textas and pencils were used in the vases, and supertac used for adhesion.
The students have examined the work of Rex Ray. They have replicated some of the shapes evident in his pieces in these collages, created by using painted paper and supertac / glue sticks.
The students have used cut pieces of paper towel cardboard inserts that they have bent into heart shapes. They have dipped their heart shapes into primary coloured acrylic paint to create a pattern on cartridge paper. Today the students chose their own shape to make from the cardboard tube and stamped this into the paint, then onto the paper.
At the end of the acrylic painting session today, the students painted sheets of paper with plain colours, in preparation for our Rex Ray collage session next week.
The students have painted backgrounds for a still life, with watercolour paint kits. They have experimented with different sized brushes.
The students have studied pictures of blue and white ceramic vases and learnt how to draw them, including ellipses to make the pictures more realistic. Black ink and thin brushes have been used to paint the vases, as well as adding flowers which would be inside the vase. These ink paintings will be hand coloured next session. The students have used watercolour paints to hand colour their still life pictures from last week.
