Course ContentVisual Arts at Templestowe Park is an integral and exciting component of the whole school curriculum. Every year level participates in a weekly 50 minute Art session. The students are empowered to develop and apply their skills and knowledge, to visually communicate their feelings and their understanding of themselves and other people. Students explore a variety of different mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and printmaking to name a few. They interpret various sources of inspiration from their own imagination as well as direct observation of the world around them.
Art History is an essential element which is interwoven throughout the curriculum at all levels. I believe it is essential that Art is not viewed in isolation - it has wider implications in our world! A vital part of the Visual Arts curriculum is the Grade 6 Legacy Project. In their final year at our school, the senior students work as a team to produce an artwork which remains at the school for future students to enjoy, as well as providing visual interest to Templestowe Park. Every alternate year we hold an Art exhibition in which every student exhibits a piece of their artwork. This is a feature of the school calendar, and is eagerly anticipated by each budding young artist. Our next exhibition is scheduled for 2018. |
