The students have been analysing the heart paintings of Jim Dine. They have been inspired by his use of mixed and pure colour.
The students have traced around their hand and arm with pencil and textas. This is the basis for a primary paint colour mixing activity. The students are adding the final touches to their McCubbin inspired 'Lost' pictures. They are adding watercolour paint to their digital photography and oil pastel pieces from last week. The students have used their 'fold overs' from last week and made these cool monsters. The exercise is to reinforce colour theory, as well as working on cutting and pasting skills, whilst considering composition. The students have completed a colour mixing exercise, using primary colours. They have turned this into an eye, then collaged black paper to add pupils and eye lashes. Supertac has been used to combine the elements, due to its strength. The students have been looking at the paintings of Piet Mondrian. They have been inspired by his geometric shapes, and the primary colours used in his work. The students have been investigating the work of Frederick McCubbin. They have replicated a pose similar to that in his painting 'Lost', which has been printed to be utilised in these collages. The students have been introduced to the concept of primary colours. They have completed two 'fold overs' which will be used in forthcoming weeks to introduce secondary colours. The students have been introduced to the basic shapes that make up a Chinese Dragon. Oil pastels have been used to add colour, line and texture. Today we have been learning about compressed and willow charcoal. The students have been introduced to drawing and smudging techniques in these Chinese landscapes. Apologies in advance, the students really do need their Art smocks! |
