The students were given a coloured paper circle. They had to cut it in some way to transform it into a monster. Textas were used to complete the pictures, adding details to the monster bodies and the background. It is a really good idea for parents to practise cutting skills with their children, just drawing lines on photocopy paper and having students cut along the lines safely!
The students have been looking at the colour wheel and complementary colours. Their watercolour paintings have been outlined with black paint to add drama to their pieces. They have also used leftover black paint to create these linear paintings.
The students have been drawing birds. They have used frames made from paper strips to identify the most important parts of their sketches, before they enlarge them. Black ink will be used next session and 'blown' across the page to create interest.
The students have been photographing significant pieces from their childhood, with their iPads. They have been looking at composition and meaning in their photos.
The students have been working with complementary colours, and referring to the colour wheel. Last session they chose two colours opposite each other on the wheel and painted trees using only these colours. This week they have used black acrylic paint and thin brushes to outline their trees.
The students completed a painting of a tree last session with watercolour paints. This session, they have outlined the grey led parts with a black texta to make the trees easier to see. They have added embellishments with sequins and buttons.
The students have been inspired by the circle paintings of Wassily Kandinsky. They have used crayons and watercolour paint to replicate their own versions of his work.
The students have studied 'The Starry Night' by Vincent Van Gogh. They have replicated his painting and enlarged it onto A3 paper with grey led. The pictures will have colour added with oil pastels over the next couple of weeks.
The students have been learning about cutting and folding techniques. They have used these to construct a sculpture with cover paper, attaching the 'feet' with supertac. Hole punches have also been used to add decorations.
